SUMMARY: A DANCING SHAMAN SIBYL for PROJECT ELISSA

Project Elissa, after the geophysical investigation recording the presence of an extended hypogean structure under the peak of Italic Mount Sibilla, with its cultural background and in synergy with its scientific committee, develops a cultural work for the Apennine Sibyl and her lands open onto the joining together several scientific competences both National and International to a further exploratory stage of an archaeological site which might become one of the most important sites in Europe.
The «Shaman Sibyl» is not to follow the fashion of New Age, but for the need deeply felt by Elissa ad strictly integrated to it: the «shaman» (we use this word to better understand each other) is the wise wizard that is a therapist, a religious guide, a poet, a musician, bestower of oracles, theologian, dancer, ritual guide for living and dead people…both in a male and a female type.
The name of the ancient Sibyl-Women («òs=(òs» God and «ò»To Will), that preserved the material and spiritual culture of Sibylline Apennine did not come up to us, but their function did: the shaman’s one.
Even if it is well known that the only Asiatic and Amerindian cultures can be defined «shamanic» the Apennine foreteller was then conceived as a Sibyl-lines curandera given the influence she could have on the still-persisting tradition inspired to sciences of Nature and alchemy, as well as to those medical and phytotherapic practices to which an interdisciplinary research could give a great deal of evidence.
In time, the Apennine or sibylline civilization developed into an active as well as peaceful society, open to cultural and commercial exchange with merchants and navigators like Phoenicians.
This people had a Sibyl as queen called Dido and also Libissa or Elissa,founder of Carthage.
The society which resulted from this melting was fully aware of the role of women as holders either of the genetic memory and of all the notions which were useful to the welfare of the community.
Stories which are told by the sibylline people seem to spring from generation to generation by a millenary metabolic process of the Sibyls female archetypes (The Mountain, The Cave, the Lake or Mirror of Venus).
The archaic cult related to the site turns on three key words: Cave-Feminine-Divination.
Actually, because of its cult utilization, the site was related to womanly assemblies and «shaman» women endowed with powers that let them to be conceived as nearer to the archetype (or divinity) than to humans.
This site still lies unexplored and in spite of any imposed ideological barrier and groundless prohibition it will not be possible to keep on denying this site the dignity of hypogeous dwelling, either of the Italic autochtonal sacredness and of the priestesses, female shaman or Sibyls, who were its personification.
To the question if a Middle-European myth may has come and found in time its most suitable location in a site like that or if its setting inside the Apenninic cave may have originated the famous myth, the answer is still to be given and as Marches scholar Dante Cecchi already pointed out twenty years ago:«The problem of the Sibyl is a European cultures problem».
Other very interesting themes for the scientific examinations are purposed in the book Shaman Sibyl such as Fields, States of Consciousness and Sibylss Prophecies- or From the Sibyls meanders to the cerebral labyrinths-or-The Art of Medicine in the pre-roman period for the considering Myths, Symbols and Archetypes of Sibilline lands as well related to an Italic cult which linked to caves that hysterical virtue- histéra means womb in Greek- which presides over any healthy and generative process.
Also it is tried to decipher the Sibylline icon by the long-lived popular memory of dancing fairy worlds, of archaic mysteries and of historical witchcraft still living in the Apennine Sibyl Folklore.
Finally, according to the connections with the Sibylline Myth and Ariadnes Labyrinth, remembering Friedrich Duerrenmatts words «The creature danced through the labyrinth by the world of her (or his) images», Project Elissa & Miriamica allowed to reborn dancing sibyls the weaving of golden threads by publishing the so called Stella Maris Dancing Mandala of Annalisa Barbone.

INTRODUCTION
In our society it is through official therapies, fitness, or artistic techniques learned in academies that body-experience, poetry, perception, expression, briefly the true experience of being a woman, pass.
As a consequence, these are often too isolated from each other.
My call is for all women and dancer-women interested in the dance as a whole and pleasant process developing and changing both our own body and personality.
Here I am proposing a way to approach dance either as an art and a therapy, as well as a basic element in daily life.
By means of these stages I would like to offer the possibility of connecting expression, training, improvisation and self-healing, through body experiences full of meanings embracing psychophysical well-being and therapeutic-artistic movements as a whole.
By the union of new dance-styles- as Contact and New Dance and ethnic, modern, ballet dances, with some notions of therapy and technique of performance, we will come together to discover again, and develop, our own personal ideas about dance, body experience, and dance theatre.
We will dance, according to the technique and improvisation, in natural sceneries of uncontaminated beauty as by the types and the archetypes of the mountain, the lake, the cave and by the Sybil in the very heart of Sibylline Mountain Park.
We will be able to freely move ourselves as well as to experience the consequent fun and joy of the being women matching their own identity: joint and indivisible boldness and heart, expression and creativity.
By starting from motion impulses, vocal expressions, songs, and personal rhythms, we will realize a dance, which will flow, into a chorus line while a drum is beating a ravishing and involving time.
I created for you Stella Maris, the dancing mandalas which by the force and the beauty of lights, colours, and shapes can revive any ones inner and healing dance: an oracle of any ones life theme by which one can discover her/his own deep meaning and translate it into manifested movement matching the collective tuning.

( DANCE IMPROVISATION

(DANCE THEATRE
The stages are compound of three working phases

(DANCE IMPROVISATION:

Techniques of dance are important but do not take a basic place otherwise to lead to organisation that goes before improvisation.
Dance is creation according to technique and improvisation, a balance between structure and freedom, respecting our own moving style, forming and widening it.
Starting with warm-up, stretching, individual and couple massage we release muscles getting us ready for dance and for co-ordinating movements.
The dance training is according to European-International Contact and New Dance tendencies.
Space-Form-Time-Dynamics-Flow-Impulse-Rhythm-Weight as characteristic dimensions of dance are ideas easy to communicate and practical to exercise. We open to new influences enriching our body movements repertory.
By individual -couple -for three members- groups exercises grows the ability to pay attention to themselves and to others and we correspond to peoples primary needing to look at each others, to understand and express themselves in relationships with courage, strength, contact and trust.

The experience of body and dance as expression of our own inner order and nature. It is the relationships field between peoples feelings and their need of awareness and expression of these feelings.
We start from basic exercises for the perception of body and his inner organs to stimulate a contact with our lifes strength ,harmonising it with natures cycles and her elements earth ,water ,air ,fire .
We open our body to emotions sphere by breathing and vocal exercises ,rooting ,relax on the ground ,Polynesian-massages of body ,face and skin.
Then follows the visual phase with the mandala ,letting its lights colours and abstract shapes stimulate the conscience to enter into connection with a world of dream-images ,with ancient and intuitive energies ,with body and senses experience ,with the archetype ,with ones unique inner world and life theme .
A conscious connection with the personal lifes experience through the archetypes-images of the card ,can stimulate to grow ,to research solutions for conflicts and contradictions or make clear the way to a new inner order.
This phase promotes self-healing s power ,psycho-physical balance and self-value ,working on with the firm belief that everyone ,hearing the wisdom of body and dreams, brings inside the possibility and strength to grow on finding problems solutions.
It is important to show the ways and basic elements of technique to let the research of well-being with the oracular dancing mandala roll on in full autonomy!
Infinite experiences are possible with the themes ,according to the groups personality and composition …Entering into connection with personal lifes theme ,expressing and join it with the one of other people taking part ,organising and realising it with artistic choreographs or improvisation-performances is by the contemporary psychology recommended as a creative process very important to personalitys development.
This is also the final goal of an experimental

(DANCE THEATRE :

Dance theatre s technique lessons playing impro-music-instruments ,using abstract dances composition criterions ,with examples originated in daily lifes scenes and specific exercises for presence ,voice and body.
Group conversations and examples with video-shoot-camera will be the feed-back after lessons to let the feeling of the moment during the performance return as tangible and present.

Metodo di danza integrato Stella Maris Mandala Danzanti

·Danza Improvvisazione

Le tecniche di danza sono importanti ma non occupano un ruolo centrale se non per condurre all’organizzazione che precede l’improvvisazione.
Danzare è creare secondo tecnica ed improvvisazione,ricercando l’equilibrio tra struttura e libertà con esercizi che rispettino lo stile di movimento personale,formandolo ed ampliandolo.
Warm-up, stretching e massaggi individuali o in coppia, predispongono il corpo alla danza ed ai movimenti di coordinazione.
Il training di danza prosegue con tecniche di contact e new dance : spazio, forma, tempo, dinamica, flusso, impulso, ritmica e peso, dimensioni caratteristiche della danza, sono idee facilmente comunicabili e praticabili negli esercizi per aprirci a nuovi influssi ed arricchire il repertorio di movimento del corpo.
Ulteriori esercizi individuali e di gruppo sviluppano la capacità di attenzione per se stessi e per gli altri, rispondendo ai bisogni primari delle persone di guardarsi, comprendersi ed esprimersi nelle relazioni con coraggio, forza ,contatto e fiducia.

·Simbolismo del Corpo con le carte oracolari

L’esperienza del corpo e della danza come espressione del proprio ordine interiore è un campo che mette in relazione i sentimenti col bisogno di prenderne consapevolezza ed esprimerli.
Partiamo da esercizi per la percezione del corpo e dei suoi organi interni che stimolano il contatto con la forza vitale,armonizzandola ai cicli della natura con i suoi elementi : terra, aria, fuoco, acqua.
Apriamo il corpo alla sfera delle emozioni con esercizi di respirazione, rilassamento a terra, massaggi polinesiani del corpo, del viso e della pelle.
Segue la fase di visualizzazione del mandala in cui lasciamo che luci, colori e forme astratte stimolino la coscienza ad entrare in contatto con un mondo di immagini-sogno, con energie arcaiche ed intuitive, con il vissuto del corpo e dei sensi, con l’archetipo, con il proprio unico mondo interiore e tema di vita.
Entrare in contatto consapevolmente,attraverso l’immagine-archetipo della carta, con l’esperienza di vita personale, può stimolare la crescita, la ricerca della soluzione di conflitti o contraddizioni e fornire i chiarimenti necessari per trovare un nuovo ordine interiore.
Il simbolismo del corpo stimola i poteri di auto-guarigione e
riequilibrio psico-fisico, promuove l’autostima e lavora con la convinzione che ogni persona porta in sé la possibilità e la forza per lo sviluppo e la soluzione dei problemi, se accede all’ascolto della saggezza del corpo e dei sogni.
E’ importante acquisire le tecniche di base che consentano la ricerca del benessere anche in piena autonomia.
Sono possibili infinite esperienze con i temi proposti, secondo la personalità e la composizione di ciascun gruppo.

·Teatro Danza

Entrare in contatto con il proprio tema di vita, esprimerlo e collegarlo a quello delle altre partecipanti, organizzarlo e realizzarlo artisticamente in coreografie e performance improvvisate è la meta del teatro danza sperimentale.
Numerose teorie di psicologia contemporanea sottolineano l’importanza di tale processo creativo per lo sviluppo della personalità.
Nelle lezioni di tecnica di teatro danza suoniamo strumenti musicali per composizioni e ritmi di improvvisazione, utilizziamo criteri di composizione astratta della danza con esempi tratti da scene di vita quotidiana ed esercizi specifici per la presenza, la voce ed il corpo (vocal dance).
Le lezioni prevedono la possibilità di un feed-back dopo le performance, con conversazioni di gruppo ed esempi di video riprese che rendano tangibile e presente il sentimento irripetibile dell’istante, consentendoci di riscoprire e sviluppare insieme idee personali sulla danza, l’esperienza del corpo ed il teatro danza.

Un richiamo per tutti,senza limiti di età o di pre-esperienza per riscoprire gli elementi naturali (terra,aria,fuoco,acqua) e risvegliare la consapevolezza verso il simbolismo e l’armonia del corpo,stimolandone la libera espressione.
